MCFA Condemns Thai Attack on Preah Vihear, Citing Destruction of Conservation Site and Violation of Peace Accord

The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts (MCFA) vehemently condemned the Thai military’s heavy weapons attack on Cambodian territory, spanning from An Ses to the Preah Vihear Temple area, on the morning of December 8, 2025. This renewed aggression, which the MCFA views as an attempt to disrupt the October 2025 Kuala Lumpur Peace Agreement, destroyed the conservation building for the 5th Gopura restoration project (a Cambodia-India collaboration) and forced the evacuation of staff and residents.

The MCFA called on Thailand to immediately halt all hostilities, respect international law, and appealed to the international community to condemn the continued aggression and severe violation of conventions protecting the World Heritage Site.
